Abstract

In the European Parliament document of 18 December 2006 on key competences for lifelong learning (2006/962/WE) competences are defined as a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to the situation. The authors also use the term „key competences”, stressing that these are the competences that all people need for self-fulfillment and personal development and for being an active citizen, for social integration and for employment. All key competences have the same value because each of them can contribute to a successful life in the knowledge society.
