Abstract
In the modern information society, websites serve as a powerful tool for education, communication, and user interaction. The inclusion of web technologies in the school informatics curriculum is a relevant aspect of developing digital competence, as it prepares young people for life in a digital world and contributes to national economic growth. This study aimed to analyse informatics textbooks and identify key trends in the methodology of teaching web technologies to secondary school pupils. To achieve this objective, a set of theoretical methods was employed, including analysis, systematisation, and synthesis of scientific, methodological, and educational literature, as well as the study of teaching methods and the application of modern digital tools in the process of learning web technologies. The analysis of educational materials on “Creating and Publishing Web Resources” in 8th-grade computer science textbooks showed that the educational content is adequate and up-to-date for building foundational knowledge in this area. It was found that the competencies and practical skills acquired by pupils enable them to realise their potential in developing web pages and websites – ranging from basic projects created using the HTML markup language to complex websites with integrated elements, developed through automated website builders employing current technologies. Significant emphasis was placed on practical tasks, which reinforced theoretical knowledge and fostered essential digital skills in web page creation. The authors actively incorporated modern technologies such as QR codes, online services, and interactive resources, enhancing pupils’ motivation and interest in the subject. The findings of this study may be applied in the educational process both in comprehensive schools and specialised institutions to prepare pupils for working with web technologies
