The research covers a period at the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century when the territory of modern Zakarpattia was within the borders of Austria-Hungary. Zakarpattia included the territories of Bereg, Máramoros, Ugocsa and Ung. Active work on the provision of pre-school education within the territory of modern-day Zakarpattia began after the creation of the State Union of Pre-school Educators in Budapest on 21 June 1874. Pre-conditions for founding basic public-pedagogical organisations that engaged in distributing preschool education within the territory of modern Zakarpattia are revealed in this publication. The history of Bereg, Máramoros and Ung Divisions of the State Union of Preschool Educators is discussed here by describing their activities. The creation of the Division of Preschool Educators of North-East Hungary is analysed in relation to the State Union of Preschool Educators. Its role is to become a distributor of preschool education by founding and promoting preschool establishments at the territorial edges of the empire at the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century.
